At the early 80’s the Skalli family started to plant new vines in the Languedoc – Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Syrah, Chardonnay, Sauvignon – so creating leading wines from French vine varieties.
Being involved in vineyards meant that they could create special partnerships with wine growers, thus bringing their expertise to bear on every stage of wine production – from vine training to bottling.
Produced from the best soil in the South of France, the Couleurs du Sud vine varieties are selected in the Languedoc and Corsica for the high quality of the soil and the beautifully sun-ripened grapes.
The exceptionally sunny Mediterranean climate and the wide variety of soil types chosen - alluvial terraces, clay-chalk hillsides, silt plains – means that each of these vine varieties will produce different nuances and flavours.
A selection based on the best marriage between soil and vine variety means that each Couleurs du Sud wine can be distinguished by its colour and the richness of flavour of the individual vine variety combined with the soil type.
